Lee Partiss  (1+)  Connecting in 1979.  Drummer.

Doris Payne & Gregory Carroll  (1)  Connecting in 1981.  Songwriters.

They wrote Just one look, which was originally a #10 hit for Doris Troy, and was also recorded by The Hollies and Linda Ronstadt.

Robert Plant  (1+)  Connecting in 1988.  Singer, songwriter.

Kirsty sang backing vocals on the former Led Zeppelin front man's album Now and Zen.

The Pogues  (4+)  Connecting from 1987 to 1989.

Kirsty sang backing vocals on the albums If I should fall from grace with God and Peace and Love (notably Lorelei), and they in turn backed Kirsty on The one and only and collaborated on Miss Otis Regrets/ Just one of those things and of course Fairytale of New York.  Bags more detail under the entries for the individual members - Shane MacGowan, James Fearnley, Spider Stacey, Terry Woods, Phil Chevron, Daryl Hunt, Phil Rambow & Andrew Rankin.

Gavin Povey (4+)  Connecting from 1979 to 1990.  Piano, songwriter.

Co-author of some of Kirsty's best work - Terry, He's on the beach, Other people's hearts and Roman Gardens.  Piano on Desperate Character album and on the BBC sessions album (What do pretty girls do?).  He is credited with "special thanks" on the Kite liner notes.  Gavin played piano with Tracey Ullman (You caught me out), the Shakin' Stevens band, Jane Aire, Lew Lewis and Chris Thompson.

Here's an anecdote for you, from Brian Haines: "Kirsty MacColl is a singer and songwriter, but I prefer to think of her as one of the great drinkers of the western world.  When she was having big chart success with a song called "There's a Guy Works Down the Chipshop Swears he's Elvis", she turned up one night in a pub in Deptford called The United Friends. Every weekend they used to have a pianist and drummer and anyone who wanted to could get up and sing.  Now, the man who used to play the piano in those Days was called Gavin Povey, and he had previously gone out with my flatmate Sally. What I mean is, I knew him. Hated him, but knew him. And he had played piano on Kirsty's record, or something, so she came to the pub one Saturday night. She sat at the same table as me, and was very generous in buying lots of drinks. And very good at drinking."

Guy Pratt (4)  Connecting from 1989 to 1991.  Bass.

GuyBass on Walking down Madison, Days, What do pretty girls do? and You just haven't earned it yet baby.  Other work - Electronic (with Johnny Marr), Pink Floyd (with Dave Gilmour), The Orb, Bryan Ferry and Banderas (Marr again)

The day after the release of the album The Queen is dead, the Smiths were preparing for a 27 date American tour and assumed that Andy Rourke's drug conviction would scupper his chances of a visa. The band drafted in Guy Pratt and Rourke taught him his parts. He had a pony tail," said Rourke. "I remember Morrissey saying, "sorry, I'm not going on stage with anyone with a pony tail." So he had all his hair chopped off, bless him. Then my visa came through."

Omar Puente (3)  Connecting in 2000.  Violin.

Violin on Here comes that man again plus backing vocals on Mambo de la Luna and In these shoes?.  Played at the live tribute concert.
