Reissues & Compilations

The Stiff Singles Collection

Released in October 2006, this is a Japan only CD.

The Stiff Years

Released on 1 June 2005, this is an internet dowload release, which at least makes it unique in Kirsty's back catalog. Find it on iTunes. Impressibely it even has a virtual sleeve picture!

The Best of Kirsty MacColl

Released in August 2005, this is a single CD distillation of Kirsty's 5 star tracks, including a re-recorded version of Sun on the Water.

From Croydon to Cuba

Released in March 2005, this is a three CD collection of Kirsty's finest album tracks intermingled with those great "lost" singles and a batch of previously unheard material from her studio vault. An accompanying DVD was released separately.

Titanic Days (Remastered 2 Disc Set)

This is a double CD with the original album left remastered but otherwise untouched on CD1, and a collection of '94 era bonus tracks and remixes on CD2. Reissued in February 2005.

Electric Landlady

Reissued in February 2005 with bonus tracks.

Kite

Reissued in February 2005 with bonus tracks.

The One and Only

Released in 2001, a year after her death, a real curate's egg. Modelled very closely on The Essential, it adds the wondrous Libertango (recorded for Sharon Shannon) as well as some backing vocal appearances ranging from the impressive Welcome to the new brunette by Billy Bragg to the frankly unnecessary and inappropriate Manchester Rambler sung by Ewan MacColl.

What do Pretty Girls do?

Released in 1998, this was not a standard reissue but rather a collection on Hux Records of the four BBC Radio sessions Kirsty had done over the years. Stripped of studio tan, what you get is a basic acoustic set with minimal accompaniment from Billy Bragg, Martin Belmont, Mark Nevin, Pete Glenister, Guy Pratt, Simon Edwards, Dave Ruffy and Gavin Povey. An interesting and worthwhile part of Kirsty's recorded output.

Galore

Released in 1995, it includes pretty much all the pre Tropical Brainstorm favourites apart from the legendary Soho Square - think Days, New England, Chip Shop, Madison, Fairytale, Free World, Innocence, Perfect Day, three songs from Titanic Days and a new one, Caroline. Galore reached No. 6 in the UK Charts on 18th March, staying for an impressive 27 weeks. Kirsty was involved in the compilation, and it shows.

The Essential Collection

Released in 1993, a patchy collection which nevertheless gathers together some good material such as New England, Terry, They don't know and both flavours of Chip Shop, as well as rare gems like See that girl and Eighty year old millionaire. Kirsty referred to this effort as The Inessential Collection.

Kirsty MacColl

Released in 1985, four years after its initial appearance as Desperate Character, this was a strange and ultimately pointless reissue, though the "new" tracks added to the original hinted at the never issued second Real album - a much more synthesizer heavy collection.
